Warranties, Refunds and Returns
Items Handmade by MN Jewellery Design
Our Promise to You:
Your jewellery has been created with the utmost care and attention to detail. Handmade jewellery is not perfect and as such may have small imperfections compared with machine-made jewellery. This does not detract from its value, beauty or purpose. Every item we make is stamped with our Maker's Mark - our promise that it is a quality product, made with refined precious metal to world class standards.
Manufacturing Warranty:
As such, we offer a 10 year warranty against manufacturing defects, excluding wear and tear. Repairs or changes done to your jewellery by other jewellers will void this warranty as we cannot guarantee their workmanship or materials.
Loss of a main stone is not covered under warranty - it is a wear and tear issue that would be covered under your insurance.
Refunds & Returns:
We are unable to offer refunds or returns on custom-made jewellery for change of mind.
Repairs & Care:
Improper wear, use or care of the jewellery resulting in wear-and-tear is not covered under warranty. (Please see full CARE list for details) We strongly recommend yearly jewellery checks - these are offered free of charge.
Ring Re-sizing:
If you have purchased a handmade ring from us, we are happy to resize your ring once, free of charge within the first 6 months after purchase. It is normal for fingers to fluctuate with heat, pregnancy, sickness and weight-gain/loss. Re-sizing after 6 months will be chargeable. Some rings (i.e. titanium or heavily engraved pieces) may not be re-sizable.
Store Stock Items

Many items will have longer warranties as provided by their original supplier. These warranties (and ours) exclude general wear and tear and any improper use, storage or cleaning. (Please see full CARE list for details). Therefore refunds and free repairs after 6 months will be only be offered on a case-by-case basis. Please keep your proof of purchase - ie receipt.

Second-Hand, Vintage and Antique Pieces
Warranties & Returns:
Second-hand, vintage and antiques pieces are sold "As Is" and no refund or exchange is offered for change of mind. Antique and vintage jewellery commonly have patina and 'glow' acquired from years of love and wear. Slight imperfections add to the charm of the piece and are indications of its authenticity. There may be imperfections in stones and metals and it is possible that previous re-sizing and restorations have been made to the piece. Most second-hand, vintage and antique pieces will not be in "new" condition, but will be graded as fair (significant wear), good (wear consistent with the age of the piece), very good (very little wear) or excellent (almost as new) condition when sold, and will be stated as such.
Insurance
We recommend you purchase insurance through a company that specialises in jewellery, alternatively your jewellery may be added to your home insurance (you will need to discuss this with them). Please realise that in the event of a claim, most general insurance companies will encourge you to have your jewellery replaced or fixed by a jeweller of their choice at their nominated value, however they are unable to force you to do if you tell them you have a preferred family jewellers.
Valuations
For hand-made pieces we will provide you with a certificate of sale. This is not a valuation. Jewellers who are not trained valuers cannot provide a legal valuation, this must be done by a valuer who is registered by the NCJV (National Council of Jewellery Valuers). There are also many different types of valuations for different purposes. You should only accept valuation certificates that clearly state the purpose of the document - eg insurance, etc - and the type of market on which valuation is based.
Gem Treatments
We believe the best gemstones are naturally made and coloured (i.e. have emerged from the ground without any processing other cutting and polishing). Therefore, where possible - we avoid treated gemstones, synthetic gemstones and created stones. Gemstones which have not been enhanced in any way, are rarer and are more costly.
The majority of gemstones on the market today are heat-treated to improve appearance and colour. The practice is centuries old and considered stable and permanent and is routinely done to amethyst, aquamarine, chalcedony, citrine, emerald, jade, lapis lazuli, opal, pearl, ruby, sapphire, tanzanite, tiger's-eye, topaz, turquoise, and zircon. We will clearly state in the jewellery description or details if a gemstone has been heat treated.
Other treatments such as fissure or fraction filling, diffusion treating, and laser drilled gemstones are not acceptable to us. We do not sell these gemstones.

ABOUT WATER RESISTANCE
- You should be aware that water resistant Watches are not water proof. For example, Watches advertised as water resistant to 30 metres (100 feet/3 ATM) can only withstand splashes.
- Waterproofing (or “water resistance”), are described either in meters, or in bars (1 bar = 10 m = approx. 33 ft). It is important to note that the indication of the degree of water resistance in meters is a technical norm which does not correspond to an exact depth. “Water-resistant to 10m” does not mean that the watch can be worn to this depth, rather it indicates that the watch will resist pressure equivalent to a static immersion up to 10m deep. The wearer’s movements (diving, jumping, swimming, etc) as well as the force of the water (shower jets, river currents, waterfalls, etc) can considerably increase the pressure.
- Where your watch is certified as Water Resistant its water-resistance is ensured by a series of seals. Before any contact with water, it is essential to ensure that the crown and pushers of your watch are pushed in or screwed down, depending on model. When your watch is under water, do not activate the push-pieces for the chronograph function, the minute-repeater or the second time zone. After swimming, make sure to rinse your water-resistant watch in fresh water so as to neutralise the potentially corrosive effects of sea-water or chlorine. The water-resistance seals of your certified Water Resistant watch undergo natural deterioration due to ageing. It is therefore recommended that you have a regular water-resistance check performed once every year if your watch is worn during sporting activities or frequently comes into contact with water, or once every two years when worn in normal conditions. Never try and open the case yourself. In the event of water or condensation appearing under the glass, take the watch as quickly as possible to an authorized maintenance centre to prevent further damage.
